Like the 19th-century Impressionist painters, Mark Godwin is interested in capturing a sense of immediacy. The choice of subject matter is often casual, everyday life, enhanced by transient effects of light and atmosphere, using compositional devices such as plunging perspective, cropped forms, and compositions balanced asymmetrically to create these wonderful paintings.
