Mark Lippett is an award winning West Midlands artist predominantly known for his derelict urban
landscape drawings and paintings.
In 2013 Lippett discovered a derelict factory in the Midlands which proved to be the source of
inspiration for a new body of work. This abandoned building had at some point caught fire and the interior
had been devastated as a result. As with all derelict buildings we wonder what life might have been like in
past and debris inside the factory gave hints of what went before. Now that people no longer use the space
we can see nature reclaiming its space.
Through drawing and painting Mark explores the haunted atmosphere of the building capturing the textures
and mood of the scene. These pieces lead you, the viewer, into the scene to experience a quiet and reflective moment.
The pieces in the following catalogue act as an introduction to this new body of work.
