These highly collectable editions are all just under 40 years old; they were published in the early 1970’s and signed by Lowry during the last years of his life. The edition sizes range from 300 to 850, but over the last 30+ years copies will have been destroyed or got damaged, a large number will have faded losing some of the strong colours. All of this does have a bearing on their value.
This collection of Signed Limited Edition Prints by L. S. Lowry have been collated by one private collector who has, over a number of years, been very careful to only collect pieces that are in as near to original condition as possible.
Some of these pieces have never before been framed.
Reuben Colley Editions.
Reuben Colley began his career as a published artist in the late 1990’s, winning the award for ‘Best Up and Coming Published Artist’ from the Fine Art Trade Guild in 2002.
This collection ranges back to ‘Impressions of Birmingham’ from 2001, through to pieces produced for exhibition in Harrods (Tate Modern) and for a Mayfair exhibition based on California in 2005. Most of these limited editions have been sold out for many years, what we are offering here are copies from Reuben Colley’s own archive.
Also in this catalogue are the first two RCFA editions. They are 2 images of New York (‘Benas Bar’ and ‘Oyster Bar’) and are produced using the Silkscreen method. Each print is hand made using 85 different screens. Each screen is used to apply a different colour to the handmade paper. They have been produced in very low numbers being editions of only 50 copies.
