7 Coastal Paintings

After painting industrial landscapes, with shadowy subways and looming concrete pillars for any intensive
period of time, the city can become a bit claustrophobic.
To remedy this and to regain a sense of perspective I make regular trips to the coast of Cornwall.
The fresh sea air and dramatic natural backdrop is the perfect tonic to cleanse the soul.

This collection includes views from St Michaels Mount on the south west coast to the famous tin
mines of Botallack on the west coast of Cornwall.
With these seven small oil paintings Reuben Colley has used the movement and textures of the oil
paint to capture the changing weather conditions; you can feel the movement of the rough sea.
There is a wonderful use of mark making in the wet paint to capture figures on the beach, streams
running through coves or heather in the lush green landscape.
Each painting is presented in a wonderful white frame which has been hand finished
by Reuben Colley.
