Reuben Colley Fine Arts are proud to present a new collection of paintings by Internationally acclaimed artist Tony Karpinski.
Born in Westminster, London in 1965, Tony Karpinski began painting and drawing from the age of 4 ½. Receiving art prizes every year throughout his school years, Tony went on to study the techniques of Great Masters such as Rembrandt and Rubens. He was privately commissioned to execute several pastiches of Dutch Master paintings for private clients.
From 1985 to 1995, Tony worked in advertising and publishing as a commercial illustrator. Inspired by the African wildlife paintings of Wilhem Kuhnert, Tony took his first trip to Africa in 1995 and his first step towards a career as a wildlife artist. He has a large and loyal collector base with paintings successfully selling through both Christies and Sotheby’s as well as many group and solo exhibitions in galleries throughout the UK.
Constantly travelling extensively throughout Africa, America, Europe, Kenya and parts of Tanzania, Tony works from his home using sketches, notes and photographs to produce his highly finished paintings.
The two collection featured include paintings from a recent reference trip to India to observe Tigers in their natural habitat. Tony was also inspired by the people and locations he visited and gathered the candid reference material that went on to inform this collection.
Upon returning from India Tony was immediately inspired by the hustle and bustle of London; the city he was born and raised in, a place very close to his heart.
The experience gained from many years of composing and painting wildlife has given Tony the ability to capture a split second in time with the upmost skill and precision.
His wonderful use of light is evident in this whole collection of beautifully painted, atmospheric gems.
