Towards the end of his life, L. S. Lowry published around 50 signed limited editions of his paintings. These editions, signed by the artist, are now highly sought-after. Many of Lowry's industrial townscapes were imaginary composites featuring his favourite landmarks. 'An Industrial Town' contains the Stockport viaduct and the Manchester church of St. Michael and All Angels. The original of this painting is on display at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and can be viewed there. The edition is considerably larger than the original oil painting.
