The Society was formed in 1818, at a time when Birmingham did not have its own law courts. Today, it is the largest local law society in England and Wales, with 3,500 members. Reuben Colley has been painting Birmingham for over 20 years, and has firmly established himself as one of the most significant interpreters of Birmingham's constantly changing urban landscape. We are delighted that the Birmingham Law Society has chosen to mark its bicentenary by commissioning a new Birmingham painting from Reuben.
Reuben Colley's last high-profile commission was for John Lewis, and his five paintings of Birmingham can be seen in the restaurant in the John Lewis store at Grand Central.
